The Brief History of AgeSong

AgeSong began as little more than a dream in 1995 when three brothers decided to combine their diverse background in psychology, law, and theology in the pursuit of a common vision to create therapeutic environments for the Bay Area’s aging population. In little time, they bought a beautiful Victorian and restored the building to an assisted living community where seniors could stay connected to the exciting, ever-changing community of San Francisco. Hayes Valley Care, a 47-bed assisted living community, opened in August 1997 to provide an environment in which people could feel safe and supported to live all the different dimensions of who they are.

Today, the team has grown to include their sister Elke and many other talented and committed people. The second AgeSong community, Laguna Grove Care, opened in August of 2005. In 2007 we created a plan to grow AgeSong through development, management, and acquisitions. This year, we purchased Lakeside Park, are beginning construction of AgeSong in Emeryville, financing a new program in San Francisco, and expanding our services to homebound seniors in need of care and support.
