Neighborhood Design

The community at Lakeside Park is designed to be like home, while providing the security and simplicity so important for residents’ health and well being.

Although Lakeside Park cares for up to 70 residents, a typical neighborhood serves just 6-8 residents, each with their own studio bedroom or shared suite with private bathroom. The rooms open onto a living room and conversation area shared by the neighborhood residents. Common dining, program and activity spaces are located in the center of the building. This design strategy replaces long hospital like corridors with the hallmarks of a familiar family environment. In addition, each neighborhood is painted with unique and colorful tromp l'oeil murals by artist Steve McNally.

We encourage families to decorate residents’ rooms and bring familiar and comfortable furniture, knick- knacks, artwork, and family photos.

The spacious activity areas and state of the art security systems allow Lakeside Park to offer additional security while allowing residents the freedom to walk through the community, participate in activities and groups, and have access to the outdoors. Our gated ground level garage allows for easy parking and access for families and visitors.

In addition to our building design, our location allows us the opportunity to stay connected to the greater community by participating in activities in the park, walks to Lake Merritt, and group lunches or tea at local restaurants.
